Music, connection and a proud moment for Sweet Silent Disco

We’ve been so proud to bring Sweet Silent Disco to memory cafés across Bristol through Bristol Dementia Action Alliance. The feedback has been amazing, and it means so much to know that our sessions have been enjoyed.

Memory cafés create welcoming spaces for people living with dementia, their families and carers. They offer opportunities to spend time together, share experiences and enjoy activities in a supportive environment. It has been a privilege to contribute to that work.

Sharing the joy of music

Our fully hosted sessions give people the freedom to enjoy music in their own way. Some like to sing and dance, others enjoy gentle seated movement, and some prefer simply to listen and take in the atmosphere.

Each headset has its own volume control, allowing participants to choose a comfortable level. Our facilitators take time to connect with people and adapt their encouragement around individual preferences. There is no pressure to perform or join in a particular way.

For us, the joy is in creating a shared experience where everyone feels welcome. A favourite song can become a starting point for a conversation, a shared smile or a moment of fun between someone living with dementia and the person supporting them.

Being invited into these community spaces is something we value enormously. The organisers and volunteers build those relationships week after week; we’re delighted to bring an extra helping of music and laughter.

An award we’re incredibly proud of

We were absolutely delighted to receive the Best Small Business award at the Bristol Dementia Awards, as well as being named a finalist for Innovation.

As a small business built around bringing people together through music, this recognition means a great deal. It encourages us to keep developing our sessions, listening to feedback and finding ways to reach more people.

We’re proud of the award, and just as proud to be welcomed back into communities where our sessions can make a positive contribution.

Thank you for welcoming us

A heartfelt thank you to Bristol Dementia Action Alliance, the memory café organisers and volunteers, and everyone who has joined in with a Sweet Silent Disco.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, your lovely feedback and the work you do to help people feel connected and supported. We look forward to sharing many more songs, smiles and happy moments together.
